Music, dance, live theater and fine arts flourish in the Hutchinson
area as both professionals and amateurs provide outstanding entertainment.
Local artistic organizations include: Salt City Jazz; Hutchinson Brass
Quintet; Hutchinson Symphony; Hutchinson Salt Minors Barbershop Chorus,
Sweet Adeline's, Youth Symphony; Reno Choral Society; Hutchinson Theater
Guild; ArtisTree; Family/ Children's Theater; Hutchinson Music Club;
Professional Drum School; and Kansas Youth Choir.
In addition to two performance theaters (The Flag Theatre and Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre), Stringer Fine Arts Center on the Hutchinson Community College campus has an excellent small auditorium, and Memorial Hall in downtown Hutchinson seats approximately 2,000.
Winner of a Governor's Award of Excellence, The Flag serves central Kansas as a small meeting facility as well as a performance venue. Home to the Family/Children's Theatre, it is Kansas ' only festival stage complex, a dynamic, flexible and acoustically superior space, seating 315.
The Family/Children's Theatre presents six main stage shows each year. The theatre also has monthly melodramas and open talent competitions.
The Flag hosts a wide diversity of activities such as town meetings, teacher conferences, business meetings, spelling bees, bodybuilding competitions and fashion shows. Conveniently located in downtown Hutchinson , the Flag is available to rent.

The Hutchinson Art Center is both a fine art museum and commercial gallery. Since 1949, this non-profit institution has endeavored to promote the study and development of interest and education in the Fine Arts, and to promote and aid in the development of artists.
The Center has three galleries that rotate exhibitions. One gallery offers the sale of original work by regional contemporary artists. Another gallery exhibits a portion of the Center's permanent collection. The third and largest gallery is used to host traveling and/or temporary exhibitions of a variety of types of art. The Center also has an education area that is constantly being used for a variety of types of art classes for many different age groups.

The Center has collected an impressive array of internationally recognized artists including Birger Sandzen, Georges Roualt, Lester Raymer, Thomas Hart Benton, Romeo Tabuena and Alex Potter.
HUTCHINSON 'S HISTORIC FOX THEATRE

Since 1931, this theatre has been a fixture in downtown Hutchinson. The Fox made a comeback in 1999 following an extensive restoration and is now a center for art, entertainment and education. Designated the State Movie Palace of Kansas , the Fox is one of the finest examples of theater art deco architecture in the Midwest . Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Fox has established an annual season of live performances including Broadway-caliber performances, as well as a classic film series.

The Fox has become a popular meeting place and is available to rent. The theatre seats just over 1,200 and is handicapped accessible.
