The Kansas Underground Salt Museum is 'A Memory Making Experience'!
The Reno County Historical Society, provides the only opportunity of this kind in the Western Hemisphere.
A 90-second descent on a double-decked elevator will take you 650 feet below the Kansas Prairie! The historical, geological, and cultural story of salt comes to life through a series of displays. A special Museum gallery illustrates the Underground Vaults facility and includes an on-going exhibit of actual costumes worn in movies such as Mr. Freeze and Batman, James Dean's shirt from Giant, Agent Smith from Matrix, and the Snowman from Jack Frost.
Most visitors also choose to take the 'Dark Ride', a tram tour through the maze of chambers created by years of mining and don't forget to get your ticket and hop aboard the 'Salt Mine Express' underground train.
