9:00 a.m. Arrive at the Comfort Inn & Suites or the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Take some time to get settled before gathering the group together.
10:00 a.m. Launch into fun at the Smithsonian-affiliated Cosmosphere while gazing into the infinity of the stars and seeing Apollo 13. The Cosmosphere houses one of the most significant collections of space artifacts anywhere in its Hall of Space Museum.
In the Carey Digital Dome Theater, experience a film so vivid, the action seems to come to life.
Then visit the Justice Planetarium, a multimedia theater with shows that explore the wonders of the universe.
Experience Dr. Goddard’s Lab, a wildly entertaining and educational live rocket science demonstration.
11:45 a.m. Enjoy lunch at Pizza Ranch or The Kansas Buffett Company
1:00 p.m. Strataca is an adventure like no other. A 90-second descent on a double-decker elevator will take groups 650 feet below the surface.
A special museum exhibit illustrates the underground vaults and storage facility. It includes an ongoing display of costumes worn in movies, such as Mr. Freeze and Batman, James Dean’s shirt from Giant, Agent Smith from The Matrix and the snowman from Jack Frost.
Most visitors choose to add on the Dark Ride, a guided tour on a tram through a maze of chambers created by decades of mining. To keep the fun going, hop aboard the Salt Mine Express underground train.
3:15 p.m. Stop at Metropolitan Coffee for a café latte, hot chocolate, smoothie or a flavored iced tea. Add a pastry for a full afternoon snack. After ordering, relax on one of the comfortable sofas while enjoying the refreshments.
4:15 p.m. Return to your hotel to relax and freshen up for dinner.
5:30 p.m. Meet for dinner at the Airport Steakhouse, surrounded by the runway lights, or the Anchor Inn Mexican Restaurant.
7:00 p.m. Return to the hotel for a good night’s rest
9:00 a.m. Load the motorcoach and head for Yoder, located about 10 miles to the south east of Hutchinson. Visitors will take a step back in time when they visit the hub of the area’s Amish community.
Browse a variety of shops in Yoder, such as the Yoder Furniture Company, Et. Cetera Thrift Shop, Yoder Meats/Kansas Station and Yoder Hardware to name a few.
11:30 a.m. After shopping, take time for lunch. Carriage Crossing Restaurant and Bakery, featured in Midwest Living and Taste of Home, offers a large menu of home-style meals and delicious home-made pies. Visit the gift shop filled with handmade Amish quilts and other quality gift items.
