The Reno County Museum announces the opening of their newest exhibit, Hutch Heroes: Police Department. The opening event will occur on Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

This is the second installment in a series of exhibits that honors Hutchinson’s first responders and emergency personnel. In collaboration with the Hutchinson Police Department and current and retired police officers, the Museum traces the history of the Hutchinson Police Department from the early days of horse thieves to the current focus on community policing. The exhibit highlights police uniforms, insignia, equipment, major crimes and honors the fallen.

The Hutchinson Police Department will also have on hand members of the K-9 unit and the Reno County Sheriff’s Department’s armored response vehicle, the Lenco BearCat G3. Reno County Historical Society Executive Director Michael Ables and Curator Lynn Ledeboer will begin the evening with a few brief comments then welcome visitors to view the exhibit, meet the K-9 unit, and view the BearCat.
