Three Hutchinson neighborhoods – College Grove, Farmington Park, and SW Bricktown – will have free block parties the evening of Tuesday, August 7, in coordination with the Hutchinson Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative and National Night Out.

College Grove’s block party will be on the Hutchinson Community College campus in front of Lockman Hall. Food will be available from a food truck on site. Activities will include giant chess, presentations by Reno County Master Gardeners, a bounce house, and more.

Farmington Park will have a hot dog cookout, activities for all ages, an inflatable slide, and more, all conveniently located next to the playground at the intersection of Elm and Curtis. Neighborhood residents also will be able to vote on a neighborhood logo for sign-toppers.

SW Bricktown will have a hot dog cookout, a bounce house, music from a neighborhood deejay, and more in SW Bricktown Park, at the intersection of First and Jefferson. The block party also will include a ribbon-cutting for the park’s new playground and picnic shelter.

All three block parties will have involvement from local emergency responders. Reno County EMS and Hutchinson Fire Department plan to be at all three, while Hutchinson Police Department will focus on SW Bricktown. Reno County Sheriff’s Department and Kansas Highway Patrol may also make appearances. Note: Specific activities may be subject to change.
