Always a delight, Anderson Concerto Competition winners on stage with the Symphony plus a Stage 9 Revue that will thrill! Add to that two challenging pieces inspired by love. The concert features the Anderson Concerto competition winners, Felix Mendelssohn's concert overture The Hebrides, Slaughter on Tenth Avenue by Richard Rodgers and a Stage 9 revue featuring the best of romantic music theatre.
Concert Info:
- Felix Mendelssohn's concert overture The Hebrides was first composed in 1830. Some consider it an early tone poem it was inspired by one of Mendelssohn's trips to the British Isles, the Scottish island of Staffa, with its basalt sea cave known as Fingal's Cave.
- Slaughter on Tenth Avenue, written as a ballet with music by Richard Rodgers and choreography by George Balanchine, the orchestra will present a fascinating tale of love and murder.
- Anderson Concerto Award Winners will present their selections, always a standing ovation for these young performers.
- A lovely Stage 9 Revue featuring the best of romantic music theatre in song performed by Stage 9 actors and actresses.
