During the first full week in May, communities in Kansas unite to showcase the impact of travel to policymakers, business leaders and local media with rallies, events and other activities.  As part of the 34th Annual National Travel and Tourism Week, the Greater Hutchinson CVB is shining the spotlight on the people behind the nations travel industry with the “Faces Of Travel” campaign.

The Kansas Travel Office has taken it one step further, and is promoting the “You Have A “Steak” In Tourism” campaign.  Kansas is known for its high quality beef, so the focus of the campaign will be highlighting the many restaurants in Kansas that offer an excellent steak, along with the front line employees that serve them.

The campaigns kick off on Sunday, May 7th and conclude Saturday, May 13th.  During the week, the Hutchinson CVB will feature a different Reno County steak establishment on their various social media accounts (@VisitHutch).  Each featured location will include a photo, accompanied by a tourism fact about the economic importance of travel specific to Reno County.

Travel generates $10.4 billion for the Kansas economy and spending by travelers supports 94,000 Kansan jobs.  The travel industry is a top 10 employer in the State of Kansas which represents 4.9 percent of all employment in the state.  That’s one in 20 Kansans whose employment depends upon travelers coming to and within the state.

Help the CVB spread the word about the importance of tourism in Reno County by following our Instagram and Facebook pages and sharing the daily posts!
