Hutchinson Zoo's Photo

Come explore the Hutchinson Zoo where you can ride the Prairie Thunder Railroad – a historic train that children and adults enjoy riding.  While here, visitors can explore animal habitats, discover native birds and beavers in the aviary, get up close and personal with prairie dogs through specially designed tunnels, and meet animals on our mini farm. Children looking to play can step out of the exhibits and into a play area. They can uncover fossils in the Dinosaur Dig area and zip down a slide designed for adventurers.

Hop aboard the train and join us for a Zoofari at the Hutchinson Zoo. Held during spring break, these annual camps are host to children from throughout Kansas and nearby states looking for an animal adventure. Children go on zoo tours, explore animal habitats, play games and do crafts designed to teach them more about wildlife.

New to the Zoo, the Splash River & Nature Play You can dip your toes in the naturalistic creek bed and see if you can spot all of the animal tracks in the basin. This fully accessible area is open year-round with the water running on hot summer days and a dry creek bed for you to explore in the colder season.  Gateway to the Prairie, for the first time in The Hutchinson Zoo’s history, guests will be able to have an up-close interaction with the bison. Bison have been an integral part of the Zoo since its inception. Here zoo guests can see bison up close and view the adjacent pronghorn and white-tailed deer habitat.

Whether you are looking for field trips, or a unique atmosphere to host a party or corporate event, the zoo has something for you!
