During the first full week in May, communities in Kansas and across the country unite to showcase the impact of travel to policymakers, business leaders and local media with rallies, events and other activities. Travel and tourism have a significant economic impact on Hutchinson and all of Reno County.

We are fortunate enough to have two world-class attractions like the Cosmosphere and Strataca that help bring thousands of visitors to our community every year.  Additionally, the Kansas State Fair, various sporting events and conferences are all reasons visitors came to Reno County and spent $112 million in 2017.  That ranks us 10th in visitor spending among all counties in Kansas.

The travel industry supports nearly 1,600 jobs in Reno County, which in turn helps improve the lives of our residents. The food & beverage market is ranked the highest in visitor spending activity, with transportation and lodging being ranked 2nd and 3rd.

We love being the Destination Marketing Organization that represents all the fantastic work the community is doing to bring visitors to our community, so let’s celebrate next week!  Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for fun facts about tourism in Reno County!
