The Family Community Theatre will be presenting "Not Worth Your Salt" as a radio show.

This melodrama will have the traditional poor, down trodden family and an evil black-hearted villain. Of course, no melodrama would be complete without a hero and heroine. . The melodrama uses Hutchinson as its basis. You will find references to the Salt Shakers, the Hutchinson High School dance team; Allagaroo, the name of the annual and a cheer; Salt City, a name used frequently in referring to Hutchinson; Morton Salt, an important and long-time major industry found in the area; Carey E. Morton, our hero’s name, is a combination of Carey and Morton, both salt companies once found in Hutchinson; and of course, the salt mine. There is frequent use of alliterations i.e. “a single solid salt support sustains Salt City”. In addition, there are puns and ridiculous situations. As in most melodramas, the hero with the help of the heroine wins out, right prevails and wrongs fails.

"Not Worth Your Salt" will be streamed LIVE on HutchPost.com from the Flag Theatre on Friday, July 24 at 7:00p.m.

Boo and hiss the villain and cheer the heroes from the comfort and safety of your home at no charge.
