2026 Hutchinson Emancipation Day Celebration

It's ‘Hands Working Together,’ once again celebrating Emancipation Day starting Friday, July 31st through Sunday August 2nd, 2026, with many activities for the whole family.  A schedule of events and location and times can be found on the Emancipation Day Facebook page.  Friday kicks off the weekend with a Family Fun Night event.  Saturday will begin with a memorable parade, followed by a picnic and ending the day with a dance.  Sunday events bring a close to the celebration with a gospel festival and an ice cream social!  Come out, bring the family and enjoy!

Events Include:

• July 31st, 6:00 pm: Basketball 3-Point Shoot-Out at the New YMCA Gym (2000 N. Lorraine)
  • Doors open at 5:15 pm - Four Age Divisions - Cash prizes in each Division - Registration begins at 5:30 pm
• July 31st, 8:00 pm: An Evening of Jazz - HCC Stringer fine Arts Recital Hall (600 E. 11th)
• August 1st, 10:00 am: Emancipation Parade - North on Main Street, Ave. B-12th Avenue
  • Noon - Knights of Columbus (1200 W. 15th) - Awards/Parade Marshall Address
  • 12:30 pm - Free Community Picnic
  • 1:00-4:00 pm - Programs, Food Trucks, Vendors
  • 9:00 pm Old School Dance - George Sanders Band
• August 2nd, 3:00pm: Stringer Fine Arts (600 E. 11th)
  • Gospel Fest - Ice Cream Social to Follow
